July 2021: “We’ll watch this when we get our big TV.” Thirteen months later: Dev Patel’s face. The vulnerability in the fall of his features against the film’s shroomy build of epic horror. It felt like Francis Bacon’s art, or Suspiria, heavy with death but so alive. I loved it.
