Documenting your culture, the magic of dancing and the empowering potential of DIY
This week's Songbook, with Emma Warren
Emma Warren’s new book, Dance Your Way Home: A Journey Through the Dancefloor is wonderful – such a great exploration of why dance is important, how it shapes culture and how it shapes us. As soon as I got my proof copy in January, I was on email to Faber, desperate to book her for the second series.
We chat about it here, and about a book that hugely inspired Emma: Brian Belle-Fortune’s All Crews, originally self-published and spiral-bound, which brilliantly documented jungle and drum and bass communities in the late 1990s. This chat inspired me so much to embrace the spirit of DIY. I hope it does for you too.
